چکیده
Mediterranean coastlines are undergoing a strong process of urbanization due not only to demographic growth, but also the development tourism. Moreover, municipalities have become more dependent on residential tax income, which creates vicious circle for local urban planning. The Var department, in south-eastern France, can be considered as relevaznt example these dynamics, where sprawl is threatening existing vacant lands. At same time, most territories still high natural value and agricultural potential. In this paper, we describe our inventory lands large territory (two intermunicipalities, include 24 municipalities) at parcel scale, give an innovative assessment phenomenon. We investigated non-residential possibilities through possible pathways sustainable planning projects. particular, impacts increases spaces were explored normative scenarios measured socio-economic indexes. This work shows that there amount land (23.5% 37% respectively two case studies) with different opportunities valorization. It had taken into account often fringe areas, stronger. alternative suggested here used examples policy makers, encourage point view regarding use

Recycling Organic Materials On Agricultural Lands
The recycling of rural and urban organic waste materials onto agricultural land provides a challenge to the producers and end-users who both have a 'duty-of-care' to ensure the method of disposal is managed in a sustainable way. Careful management means that soil and water resources are not contaminated, the agricultural production system remains stable, and land use alternatives remain availab...
متن کاملMediterranean California’s water use future under multiple scenarios of developed and agricultural land use change
With growing demand and highly variable inter-annual water supplies, California's water use future is fraught with uncertainty. Climate change projections, anticipated population growth, and continued agricultural intensification, will likely stress existing water supplies in coming decades. Using a state-and-transition simulation modeling approach, we examine a broad suite of spatially explici...
متن کاملBacterial Pollution in Runoff from Agricultural Lands
A review of the literature reporting the methods and results of studies concerned with the nature of nonpoint source microbial pollution leads to several conclusions: (i) Comparison f data from different studies may be complicated by variation in the choice of indicator organisms, variation in watershed size and homogeneity, and variation in media and procedures for determining fecal streptococ...
متن کاملCarbon consequences and agricultural implications of growing biofuel crops on marginal agricultural lands in China.
Using marginal agricultural lands to grow energy crops for biofuel feedstocks is a promising option to meet the biofuel needs in populous China without causing further food shortages or environmental problems. Here we quantify the effects of growing switchgrass and Miscanthus on Chinese marginal agricultural lands on biomass production and carbon emissions with a global-scale biogeochemical mod...

Jiang, Yan, M.S.A.B.E., Purdue University, December 2013. Estimation of Watershed Nitrate Loads on Drained Agricultural Lands. Major Professor: Jane R. Frankenberger. Estimation of nutrient load is critical for many applications in water quality management; however, infrequent data monitoring and measurement error could raise considerable uncertainty in the load estimations. The objectives of t...
